So while at his checkup today, Nathan did his best impression of an Italian fountain. We had his diaper off to weigh him (such a big guy!), and afterwards I was holding him standing on the examining table while Jon was getting a fresh diaper. Earlier in the day Jon and I were exclaiming over the amazing amount of milk he’d consumed at daycare today. Clearly, that 16 ounces allowed him an opportunity to play a little joke, and he started peeing. And peeing. And then peeing some more.
My immediate reaction was to try and direct the stream away from me, and then to dissolve in laughter. His immediate reaction was (translated), “Wow, look at that!” So then I was trying to prevent him from bending over forwards in his eagerness to see what was going on, since he was getting dangerously close to peeing up his own nose.
And then of course once it was all over we had a wiggly, diaperless baby trying to jump off the examining table and a nurse who just kind of chuckled at us and left the room. So Jon sprung into action and cleaned up the table enough for me to get his diaper back on.
We had a while to wait before his pediatrician came in, so I attempted to keep him occupied by having him play with the crinkly paper on the table, but that got old for him after a while, and preventing him from falling off the table was getting old for me. I had a bit more success with showing him the faucet and letting him try to grab the water.
Thankfully, he fell asleep really quickly after we got home from getting the shots, and hopefully tomorrow we won’t have a repeat of the vomiting incident after his last shots. Because this time I don’t have Leigh here to help me document it.
