This morning I heard the following over the baby monitor. “Sam! You did it! You got out by yourself! And you didn’t even hurt your head! I’m so proud of you! Let me give you a hug. Good job!” Sam in fact had climbed out the crib. Later in the day I witness him balancing on the (lowered) side and jumping onto a pile of blankets Nathan had thoughtfully laid out for him. To balance it out Nathan also had a bunch of “I’ll never be your friend, Sam” later in the morning, but that moment just made my day.
We gave Nathan some new house pieces for the Zhu Zhu hamsters, so the boys have been playing with them a lot. This morning Sam kept tucking his hamster in a blanket and coming to me to shush me. At one point this afternoon he cuddled his hamster on his chest, looked it in the eye, and started singing Rainbow Connection.
